  A SURPRISE DROPS FROM THE SKIES

  Walking in the darkness

  in the falling rain

  All the time in my mind

  I’m calling out your name

  Light peeks through the clouds

  Shadows dance around

  Your silhouette appears

  dressed in a flowing gown

  Stumbling through the mud

  down a country road

  My clothes soaking wet

  drenched to the bone

  The wind howled like a dog

  tearing through the trees

  The moon broke through the clouds

  suddenly I see

  I cannot understand

  how it could be

  You standing there

  looking straight at me

  It was so real I stopped

  dead within my tracks

  Lightning flashed across the sky

  thunder groaned and cracked...

  • Dressed fit to kill... tantalizingly

  sweet, so close, yet so far away...

  TO FEEL LOVE

  Heart strings tugged

  Warmth of spirit

  Heated passion

  Blood red sun

  Songs in my soul

  Melodies in my mind

  Time falls lighter on the day

  Her sweet soft voice

  calls my name...

  BELLE

  Southern Belle

  A blossomed rose

  Musical words from her lips roll

  in a language I will ever know...

  MOVE UP

  Climb the highest mountain

  Swim the widest sea

  Walk the longest desert

  In Jesus Christ believe...

  THINK

  Some minds are set

  Some are changed

  Some are pawns

  in the game

  SET THE FIRE

  Slip into the night

  Rush the darkness

  Charge the empty vastness

  Lasso a comet

  Ride the fire

  Burn the pitch black sky

  Ignite the moon and stars

  Scorch Saturn and Mars!!

  BLUE EYES

  The warm wind blew

  one sleepy day

  From where it came

  I dare not say

  On it rode a blue-eyed beauty

  heart of gold, lips of ruby...

  Basking in her sunshine

  each moment of the day

  Hoping it will never end

  but knowing that it may...

  UNSHACKLED

  Live free, freer than the wind

  Unchained, unshackled

  Unrestrained by space and time

  Not subject to the limits of language

  Escaping the frailty of human form

  Breaking the hold of mortality

  To never sleep and never tire

  Strength and knowledge without end

  To really know it all

  To be everywhere in a moment

  at a second’s notice

  Reaching past the future

  holding history in your hand

  Once and for all to fully understand!

  THOUGHTS

  Inside the mind

  thoughts recline

  waiting to be freed

  Some bring beauty

  Some bring pain

  Some bring laughter

  in the rain..

  • Crashing up against a sea of unbelief.

  FLAMES OF LOVE

  May your love grow

  like a blooming flower

  in the morning sun...

  Touch love with your naked hand,

  Kiss love’s sweet lips,

  Caress love softly, slowly,

  Hold it closely to your fire

  Warm it in the middle of the night,

  May love drip from your presence

  May it exude an intoxicating fragrance

  and lock you in its hold

  May it grip you and never

  let you go

  May love rock you slowly in its arms

  and warm your very being

  from head to toe

  May love’s flames consume

  your heart and soul

  May your love shine

  like the finest gold...

  • Sometimes I think I see her...

  I start to call her name...

  A gaping wound in my heart

  blood spills onto the ground

  A part of me is ripped apart

  life is flowing out

  My soul’s a wasted desert land

  hope has slipped from my hands

  Someone close to me has died

  and left my love behind...

  SELF PORTRAIT

  I walked out of the holler

  into the wild blue yonder

  So much wonder to behold

  up above and down below

  I bow on bended knee

  to thank the One who brung me.

  DEPTH

  How many thoughts can

  one mind think

  How much emotion can

  one heart feel

  How deep can

  one soul go

  How much life can

  one spirit hold...

  A BLOSSOM (SANDRA)

  You are a hidden rose

  a precious favored stone

  treasured by the king...

  A blossom full of beauty...

  You are the sun

  that shines upon my door

  on a cold wintry day

  You are the radiance

  that pierces the darkest night

  You cause my heart

  to laugh and sing

  Warm flames flow from

  your fire

  A fragrance for each day

  A glow that never slips away

  You refresh the morning

  like a soft falling dew

  Only those who see

  can drink the magic brew!!

  • No beauty can surpass that

  fine looking lass.

  COLD HEART

  She let a man turn her heart

  into a cold, hard stone

  that seldom travels far

  from her fancy home

  The breakers crash against the rocks

  and fly into the air

  She doesn’t even flinch,

  her face shows not a care

  She goes through all the movements,

  though emptiness engulfs her soul

  fills her up to overflow

  steals all the love she’s ever known.

  He walked across the sun

  on a rainy day

  jumped into the ocean

  and slowly swam away

  He climbed a rocky mountain

  to its snowy peak

  fought a fierce, young lion

  and landed on his feet!

  • Our daily habits deny us the

  adventure we so badly need.

  MY! MY!

  German chocolate cake

  Hawaiian strawberry pie

  There she goes

  walking on by

  My-y! My-y!

  One of a kind

  drenched in richness

  Tempting.. delicious

  Magical attraction,

  fire, infatuation

  Beautiful elation

  the queen of my dreams

  Life worth living

  Luscious indeed!

  He
rode the stormy waves

  across the big blue sea

  into a den of thieves

  who carried him away...

  WIND

  When the wind blows

  does it take you

  for a stroll

  on a winding country road?

  Does it lead you to your home?

  UNINTRUSIVE

  In a square box room photographed

  black and white with shades of blue

  lies a calm simplicity,

  A checkered sofa, a beveled mirror

  Warm summer air silently flows

  Window cracked, the curtain blows

  The gentle light exhales

  caressing the subtle beauty of her face

  and soul

  Standing tall, an artful delight

  Pleasing my eyes, she looks and smiles

  Nails painted red

  Long blonde hair

  Slim and trim

  A white china doll

  Comfortable, unrestrained, authentic, sure

  A faint expression, a slight gesture

  suggests we sit for a while...

  Causal conversation naturally unfolds

  Time escapes the day

  Hours fade away

  Attention to each other

  all that really is

  Rising slowly she walks away..

  I dream... but not far...

  The absence of her presence

  leaves the room wanting

  Ever so quiet she soon returns

  with a grin and a sway

  sauvignon and a small cheese tray

  She serves me first and then reclines

  Almost catlike

  she curls and purrs upon the couch

  Soft jazz sets the mood, we resume

  a smooth conversation

  I soak in her eyes, her beauty, her smile

  Waves of music surround our souls

  Soft shadows dance in the corners

  unnoticed, unseen

  A square box room photographed

  There, a magic summer breeze

  softly blows

  through...

  • Do you know love as a flower knows

  the rain and sun?

  CHATTER

  “I swallowed a horse with a million dollars

  then gave it all away,”

  the parrot said to the chimpanzee

  one early morning day.

  The chimpanzee could see the picture

  in the eye of his mind

  He said, “That was quite a feat

  and truly very kind.”

  The camel had a story to tell

  of his very own

  He had been out all night

  and had not been alone

  The squirrel joined in the chatter

  to comment on the matter

  He too had made the rounds

  in a nearby hopping town

  The rabbit, she was silent

  soaked in all she heard

  The forest then was quiet

  and offered not a word.

  • When they were giving out

  personalities they gave her

  a double portion. Some got none.

  TARNISHED ARMOR

  A knight in tarnished armor

  and faded tattoos

  A second handed lover

  with my baby blues

  Been down and dirty

  dusty and used

  Rough edges,

  not unsmooth

  Wrinkled brow

  crows feet eyes

  Ashes with embers

  fire down inside

  burning in my veins

  like a mighty hurricane!!

  POOR LITTLE BEAUTY

  White face, red lips, dark hair

  dressed in Milan’s best

  pouting in her lair,

  Style eyes, confident, bold

  a bit snooty

  Provocative, sad...

  Admire,

  envy,

  pity,

  ‘Little Beauty’.

  • The waitress asked if I wanted dessert.

  I replied, “You are dessert to my eyes.”

  RUN

  One musters courage

  The other one is shy

  One runs for the gold

  The other runs and hides

  Will you cross the finish line

  Or dabble by the road

  Are you satisfied to guess

  Or do you need to know?

  LIFE’S GARDEN

  Walking through the garden

  pulling up the weeds

  turning unturned soil

  planting brand new seeds.

  DO IT

  Feed the heart

  Free the spirit

  Stretch the mind

  Exercise the soul

  IF FOREVER KNOCKED?

  If forever knocked on the door...

  If eternity were sold at the store...

  How much would you pay?

  Would you sacrifice

  would you give your life

  all for endless days?

  STREAMS

  Seamlessly blending forever together

  start and stop forgotten

  One day blends with the next

  almost as one

  or a smaller part of more

  flowing into the same stream

  like a river with no shores

  Seconds, hours, minutes

  melded together

  in a cosmic ocean

  shrouded with a misty fog

  The ancient past holds fast

  to the hand of tomorrow

  Ends blend with beginnings

  connections unapparent ghosts

  rolling, flowing, never ever

  standing still

  one segment enveloped by another

  disappears in the other

  Past history sometimes forgotten

  the future standing naked... alone

  in front of your face

  soon to be but a trace

  across the eternal sky...

  Weaving down a winding road

  Marvelous mysteries to behold

  Tastes of heaven on this earth

  Oh the wonders of new birth!!

  Looking back I see a time

  she could have been mine

  Make me wanna lay down and cry

  Slim little body, pretty face

  make my heart begin to race

  A pretty, pretty baby,

  a fine looking lady

  from not so long ago

  Life is not so easy

  I know it likes to tease me

  You know it makes me wanna

  lose control

  SCREAMING HEART

  The cries of a screaming heart

  into a cold, dark night

  Empty echoes ring in pale moonlight...

  Deep deadness in my soul, ever aching

  Broken trail paved with tears decaying...

  Sorrow, sickness, affliction of pain

  Memories drudging through my brain

  A death grip on love’s chain

  Cold damp fingers pried apart

  Dissecting darkness from the heart

  Casting burdens into a desert casket dark...

  NIGHT

  Darkness falls softly

  blankets the land

  and sunlight awakens the day

  STRETCHING

  Crushed like grass under the feet

  of a giant,

  Straining to spring back higher

  than before,

  To reach up, spread wings and fly

  high into the sky,

  Unhindered, free, freer than the

  most majestic birds,

  Crashing through the gates that

  try to keep hold on the soul,

  Thrashing about like a great fish

  beached on a stormy night,

  Shaking off restraints like a dog

  shaking water from its fur,

  The storm dies down, the dust

  settles within the depths of my heart,

  I walk softly, peering into

  the uncertainty of night,

  With smiling eyes keenly atuned

  to the silent surroundings

  Sensing in the quiet of the darkness

  a stillness deep inside...

  There I lie softly calling

  to the Maker of it all...

  • We ride beside the mighty tide!!!

  SAY YOU LOVED ME

  I know you like it here

  Please do feel free to stay

  But I’m a long ways from anywhere

  I must be on my way

  If I stay another night

  I’ll stay another day

  I know you like this place

  We’ve had so much fun

  We danced and laughed and played

  layed in the evening sun

  and surfed upon the waves

  I promise I won’t stay long

  The highway calls my name

  When it does I must be gone

  I see her everywhere

  though she long since disappeared

  How many of these girls

  could have a face like hers

  To this very day

  Potential passion bursting

  Deep desire thirsting

  Blatant beauty, fragrantly feminine

  Marvelously overdone

  Visual overload, finely dressed

  Cause of my heart’s distress

  With the shape of an hourglass

  you walk right on past

  yet you take my breath away!

  Walking where the roses grew

  Sunlight always found a way through

  Through the hills, the clouds, the trees

  The Master of the miracle

  came down from up on high

  I passed from death to life

  in the twinkling of an eye.
